Clutter

DELORES WILTSE: Fresh Spiritual Poetry

Clutter is like all the thoughts in your mind
It is so busy there is no space you can find

Pay attention to your thoughts that may arise
Like a cat watching for a mouse to surprise

Quietly become the cat watching for the mouse
Watching for thoughts coming out of your house

The goal is to stop your thoughts taking over thee
Be gentle with yourself; take your time to see

Create some space between your thoughts and you
Breathing will help this; it is what you can do

Creating space a little at a time
Will help you sort out the clutter of your mind

As thoughts become quieter or seem further away
Know that you have created space, in your own way

Compulsive thinking takes up space in your mind
Pay attention to the incessant thinking and you will find

You will create space by being the witness
Watching your thoughts is a mental fitness

You see, thoughts are forms of mental energy
To keep you from feeling peace in thee

Watching your thoughts is a mental workout to do
Creating strength and discipline and connection in you

Sometimes you may also have feelings astirring
Notice that it's your emotions you're observing

For feelings and thoughts are all interrelated
So watch them both and don't be baited

Not allowing either one to take over you
Just being the witness is all you have to do

Be being present as the observer of these
Will create space and more space and internal peace

More from Delores Wiltes

Article Pic Biography
Delores Wiltse understands that peace in the world all starts with the individual as we can't do globally what we can't do individually. She is a poet and author of a new poetry book on spiritual growth through awareness of ego, entitled A Door Is Opening. Her poetic expressions point us inward.

Gatherings with family and friends keep Delores grounded and connected to all that is. The things she does in her everyday life which create an inner sense of peace are being artistic in the kitchen with recipes old and new, being a part time gardener, and spending time with her grandchildren. Camping and fishing spark her creativity with poetry, new energy and a deep sense of peace.

"I love how each one of us, as souls, expresses our own uniqueness, creating and contributing to our new world."

Being present means
I know there's no more
Important moment
Than NOW
