MARI SELBY:
In Robert Frost's 'The Road Not Taken', he seems to gleefully admit that he took the 'road less traveled by.' Those of us seeking spiritual fulfillment are all on this less traveled road, whether we call the road a journey of self-actualization, the way to authenticity, or the evolution of our soul.

For those of us on the road less traveled by, we are challenged to fully accept our uniqueness while being willing to grow ever closer to our Divine Source. Each time one of us takes the road less travelled and dares to be freer, we plough a deeper path in the wood for others to follow. However, most of us living in North America have been deluged by cold weather and snow. The cold and snow drive us to move quickly towards warmth and safety. In extreme weather we dare not take a moment to ponder 'the road less travelled by' for fear we might lose our way, flounder and possibly perish in the snow. Instead of feeding these primal fears why not catch those snowflakes on our tongues? The joy we feel and the flakes biting heat will melt away our fears.
Our souls resemble snowflakes: a unique and perfect pattern, with an icy yet fiery beauty in the centre. Osho: "You are carrying a masterpiece within you. Just move aside then the masterpiece will be revealed." At our most basic level we are the raw material of the masterpiece. When we allow our souls to be revealed we discover that the masterpiece we seek already resides in our hearts.
There are as many masterpieces as there are snowflakes. Besides the evolution of your soul, what is the masterpiece that you carry? Your masterpiece may be caring for others, or your loving kindness. Your masterpiece may be a dance only you can dance, a song only you can sing, or a poem only you can write. Or your masterpiece might reveal to the world that you are being the best mother, or father to your family. Everyone has a unique and special masterpiece to offer to the world. What do you need to discover yours? Do you need a garden, a musical instrument, or simple reassurance that you are well on your way? No masterpiece can be created overnight; this is a journey of revelation.
Steve Maraboli: "Just as we are, no two snowflakes are alike. Each snowflake takes the perfect form for its journey. And while the universal force of gravity gives us/them a shared destination, the expansive space in the air gives us and every snowflake the opportunity to take our own path. They/we are on the same journey but each take a different path. Along this gravity-driven journey, some snowflakes collide and damage each other, some collide and join together, some are influenced by wind...there are so many transitions and changes that take place along the journey of the snowflake. But, no matter what the transition, the snowflake and we are always perfectly shaped for its/our journey. We're heading to the same place, we're taking different routes, but we're both exactly perfect the way we are."]
This week's exercise: To step aside as Osho suggests, you need to do the footwork for the revelation of your masterpiece. Perhaps the first step to any revelatory process is spending time in introspection. One tool for introspection is journal writing. You may be surprised at how much you learn about yourself during a daily self-examination. Set aside a specific time each day to write a daily inventory. Ask yourself if you were kind and loving towards all? Were you honest with everyone you touched? Did you react out of anger as a cover for your fear? In all forms of revelation there is balance. In addition to looking at what you could have done better, list both small and great accomplishments. What were your acts of self-care? What did you do to move your dreams one step further? What did you do today to acknowledge your beauty and uniqueness? Just as you are a mirror of the snowflake's perfection, you are also a mirror for the snowflake's journey. You may be amazed to see that you just landed on your own glove!
