MARI SELBY: Can you hear her call? Her presence may manifest as the crows circling the sky, or the heavy rustle of the turkey vultures wings as you pass beneath the tree they are roosting in. She may show up as two leaping deer, their thundering hooves echoing back from the frozen ground of your back yard. Her face may reveal itself through sweet friends offering prayers, support and love for difficulties you face. She may appear as a sudden fortuitous opportunity for your business. She calls out to the depths of your soul, and Her tone is full of mystery and wonder.
She calls out for our embrace as much as we seek to embrace her. When we go deep inside ourselves we slow down. We can hear, see and feel her message. There are myriad ways to go deep; in our meditations, in singing, in ecstatic dancing, in working in our garden, and in our dreams. Whenever we are willing to go the depths we discover the voice of God, touch of God, and healing begins.
Shabbat Shalom ~ Lecha Dodi by Yofiyah
English translation: Come my Beloved to greet the Bride; let us receive the face of Shabbos. Welcome to my soul Shechinah! The Bride is God manifest as the Feminine. When we join with Her we receive the face of Shabbos, the peace of timeless time. We are united in the temple of our Heart.
She guides my steps in the most amazing ways. Today I rediscovered a gravestone in the cemetery next door. I had been searching for it in all the wrong sections. Years ago I had taken a beautifully eerie photograph of my partner with this stone monument in the background; twin flames entwined by morning glories and oak leaves. Seeing my partner framed by these twin stone flames touched my heart and soul. Immediately after taking the photograph I lost the monuments location. This morning as I was walking the dogs, I was prompted to take a different turn than I normally do on our walks. The gravestone appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Suddenly I felt like I was rolling in the deep hearing God calling to me, “I am here”.
Too often I stay within the safe boundaries of my life, walk the same paths and feel fear of the deep unknown. This fear of the unknown is so pervasive I don’t even realize that I am lost. When I am lost I feel ill, and even diseased. This moment of disease can extend for far too long, and yet be timeless in its manifestation. Then with a sudden turn I discover what I have been searching for, and receive confirmation of Her love and presence. Angeles Arrien PH.D 5th concept of healing * “Healing is entering into the transcendent timeless moment when one experiences the divine.” When I experience God calling I know wholeness. I can say, “Today I am happy. Today I am whole. Today I am loved, and truly blessed.”
This week’s exercise: Take a walk, and take an unplanned turn. Be without expectations for what you may discover. How do you hear God calling you from the depths? Dive deep into the ocean of yourself and you will hear Her presence in the Pin Oak leaves, the winter sun on your face, or the Junco’s cheerful song?
