DR. JOE RUBINO: Personal power comes from possessing the ability to respond to any situation with complete control over your thoughts and actions. Every thought you have creates a physical response in your body while putting forth an energy into the world consistent with that thought. The mind cannot distinguish between reality and a thought that is vividly imagined.
Whenever you think a thought and act on it as if it were true, it becomes true for you. Repeat the same or similar thoughts with any frequency and they will become a self-fulfilling prophecy. All thought is energy, which gets manifested into reality. If you want positive manifestations, think positive thoughts and do positive actions.
Since you are in control of your focus if you choose to be, choose to concentrate on thoughts and areas that support who you are and who you have decided to be. Negative thoughts, gossip, fear, envy and the like need not rule your life and command your attention. As you go about your day, get into the habit of asking yourself, does this particular thought or action support who I want and choose to be?
By developing the habit of paying attention to your thoughts and beliefs, you will be bringing your thoughts in alignment with your being. Remember, your beliefs become deeply programmed into your subconscious mind, generating an energy that influences your reality. Replace those beliefs that do not support you with different beliefs that do and watch your world change as a result.
Steps To Becoming The Person You Choose To Be
- Make a daily commitment to become more aware of your thought patterns. Recognize when your thoughts do not contribute to the picture of the person you have deliberately decided to be. Become adept at catching these thoughts early on before they can influence your state of mind and your behaviour.
- Share your commitment to rigorously manage your thoughts and actions with others and ask for their support in holding you accountable to honour your commitment to yourself. Ask them to remind you of your request to focus on the positive whenever they sense that you may be straying.
- Keep a journal to heighten your awareness to your commitment to manage your thoughts. Record daily each negative thought or action that does not support your excellence.
- Take action consistently and persistently always moving closer toward your goal of becoming the person you choose to be. Whenever you experience a disempowering thought, decide in the moment to manage your thinking process and replace this thought with an empowering one that truly supports your relationships with others and your declaration of who you have decided to be.
- Create a vivid mental picture detailing your desired state of being. What qualities will you embody in your daily life? What values will you be honouring and living in all your thoughts, words and deeds?
- Write out, in the first person present tense, a crystal clear vision statement of what every aspect of your life will be like - as though you have already achieved this state. For example, "I am a loving, charismatic leader committed to championing the greatness of everyone I meet. I listen with an appreciation for what it's like for others in their world, always in search of possibilities to make life work better for everyone as I strengthen my relationships."
- Read your vision statement at least twice a day, keeping it visible before you. Notice when your thoughts and actions are in conflict with your vision. Decide then and there to return yourself to your commitment.
- Should you stray from your path, simply recommit to your commitment without judging yourself harshly for it. Developing the habit of recognizing when you are straying from your commitments and returning yourself to them will become easier with practice and repetition.
- Decide now to live out of your empowering declaration of whom you have decided to be. Take on all of the qualities that are consistent with the person you wish to be. Identify those qualities that would make the greatest difference for you. Although this may feel awkward at first, before you know it you will transform your life to be in line with your vision.
- Write your daily observations in your journal noting how your belief level in yourself and in your business opportunity impacts your effectiveness with others in building your business.
Decide now to reinvent yourself in accordance with the portrait of the ideal person you have decided to become. Your effectiveness will skyrocket daily as you step into training your thoughts and accessing your power.
