GABRIEL MORRIS: I'm glad to be in the peaceful little village of Rishikesh. No more trains, planes or automobiles for a while. Rishikesh is on the Ganges River in the foothills of the Himalaya, in northern India, where there are many and spiritual sadhus. |
India is truly like nowhere else. There are scenes and images, scents, impressions, interactions, etc. you encounter here that you just won't experience any place else in the world. I've been here a little over a week, staying in a quiet little room in one of the many ashrams here for $2 a night. It's basic but nice. The food here is awesome. There is such great people watching and monkey watching. Lots to do around here. Anywhere you go in India it's always interesting and there seems to be a lot going on... A Tour of Rishikesh, India
Here is great view of the Ganges, then a walk across the Laxman Jhula bridge with loads of monkeys, and Indian tourists wanting my picture... Laxman Juhla bridge, Rishikesh, India
It's been cloudy the past three days, but I finally got to swim in the Ganges. The water is freakin' cold though... A Peaceful Spot on the Ganges River, India
Monkeys in an ashram, including one who apparently stole someone's laundry... Monkeys in an Ashram, India
