GABRIEL MORRIS: A little over a week ago I travelled from Rishikesh south back to Delhi. It's hard to believe I've been here almost two months already! It's quite a bit colder now, but the falcons are still flying over the rooftops!

I stayed a couple of nights and checked out the Grand Mosque, which is the largest mosque in India. I got some great shots of hundreds of pigeons flying around with the mosque in the background.

From there I caught an overnight train south to the peaceful little of village of Orchha, where I visited once before when I was here three years ago. It's a very mellow place with a nice river, surrounded by beautiful countryside and packed with a several impressive 500-year-old temples, forts and palaces.

The room I have now is about $4 a night, but it's actually pretty nice, with a double bed, extra chair, small desk. I would certainly love to stay in fancier rooms if I could afford it, but I much prefer to spend 10% of the price of a nice room and travel for 10 times longer! The only problem is some noise from the street etc., but I can't blame the room for that.

I don't think it's more risky travelling this way. You just have to be aware and keep your eyes open. The main problem I find is people trying to charge you too much for things, but as you stay in a country for a while you get a good idea of what things should cost, and then if you speak a few words of the local language, that disarms people and they're more likely to give you the real price.

Hanging out in peaceful Orchha for a few more days then I'm continuing south to Mandu, an entire city of ancient Muslim ruins that sounds pretty fascinating to explore.
