It's been rainy a lot, but fortunately there were two days of sunshine in a row and I got the chance to go on a boat trip to some of the small islands nearby to go snorkelling and swimming. The following day I rented a mountain bike and found pretty much the most beautiful beach in the world. So those two days felt like they kind of completed my Philippines experience. Next stop is Malaysia as I have a slight change of plan. I've decided to skip going to Indonesia. As I'm sure everyone has seen in the news, they're having disaster after disaster there: an earthquake, tsunami and four erupting volcanoes. It sounds like those aren't actually affecting where I would have been going, but on top of all that it's very rainy there. Someone here was telling me that when it's rainy there it's even worse than in the Philippines. Rain all day long with no breaks, so that would be kind of pointless. I was able to change one of my flights and am now flying to New Delhi, India on November 18th instead of December 8th. So I will have two weeks in Malaysia. I'm definitely a little bummed to be missing Bali and other parts of Indonesia. It sounds pretty amazing, but then I've gotten a good taste of the tropics here. I can always go another time, perhaps on my way back next spring. It's the dry season now in northern India, but temperatures will be cool so it should be a welcome change in the weather, dry and lots of blue sky and sunshine, but not too hot. Also, I've been working on a couple of writing projects and am looking forward to basically settling into a room in Rishikesh and working away on those. And I'm looking forward to the Indian food. It's definitely the best in the world! Plus, it's a lot less expensive there, even though the Philippines has been pretty cheap. So altogether it seems like a pretty good move. Looking forward to the sights, sounds and smells (well, the incense at least!) of India for the fourth time. |

Biography
Gabriel Morris was born in Vancouver, Canada, raised in rural northern California and has also lived in Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon and Alberta. He is an admitted travel addict as well as outdoors enthusiast, cultural explorer and spiritual seeker with a B.A. in World Religions. He has travelled sporadically since the age of eighteen, and will undoubtedly continue to do so.
His next adventure, takes him to the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Nepal and possibly elsewhere. He will be exploring tropical paradise in the Philippines, visiting with orangutans in Malaysia, participating in spiritual ceremonies in Bali, practicing yoga in India, and much more.
