Monkeying Around in the Philippines

Article Pic

GABRIEL MORRIS: I'm now in the tiny village of El Nido at the top of the island of Palawan here in the Philippines. It's been a pretty amazing time so far.

This is a short tour of the bamboo huts where I stayed by the beach at Sabang. The monkey is seriously the cutest thing ever. The owner had shown me earlier how perfectly safe he was to play with. He got a hold of my sunglasses at one point though and I had a hard time getting them back!

The lush tropical beauty of this region of Palawan is specatular. I've seen a wild monitor lizard in the jungle, as well as wild monkeys, toured an underground river, kicked back on some beautiful beaches, and endured some long bus rides with chickens on dirt, pot-holed roads in the pouring down rain!

Here's the proof! As you can see it was tightly packed in there, and this was before we took on a few more riders. Although it was a 50-mile drive it took about 2 1/2 hours...
