Ajanta Caves and OM Beach, India

Article Pic

GABRIEL MORRIS: I recently took another train ride to visit Ajanta Caves, which consists of more than 30 massive caves carved out of sheer rock by Buddhists between 200 B.C. and 600 A.D. The walls are covered with statues and colourful murals depicting the life of the Buddha.

Life's a beach, which sometimes means sunburned feet! Fortunately it's the tops and not the bottoms, but think I'll survive :)

After yet another train ride south - 22 hours! - I've been spending time on idyllic OM Beach ~ named for the Hindu OM symbol ~ near the small village of Gokarna on the Arabian Sea in South-western India.

Check out these camels on the beach in Gokarna. The people you'll see in this video are likely Indian pilgrims who travel to visit Gokarna's famous temple.
