Almost every single article I reviewed said some crazy thing like, 'love is complex', 'love is difficult to understand', 'love defies explanation'. I don't get it. How is it that something so straightforward can be so blatantly misconstrued?
I'm here to tell you that LOVE is the
most effortless thing that exists. We're ALL part of it. We're ALL wrapped in it and we ALL feel it. Whether we misunderstand, misinterpret, misread or outright ignore it, or not, isn't at argument here.
My answer, plain and simple 'LOVE IS.'
I'm not talking about the goooshy, smoooshy, huggy bear, kissy faced feelings that we as human beings say that we 'fall' into, and then just as quickly out of. Those would be feelings of romance, passion or lust - each relevant and delightful in their own right. But they aren't LOVE.
The LOVE I'm referring to is the real deal. It's the stuff that makes a mother put her life on the line for her child. The strength that allows a firefighter to re-enter a burning building time and again to retrieve one more vital life and the same overwhelming heart break when that person dies in his arms. It's the caring hand that holds her beloved close in times of joy and sorrow and the fulfillment we feel when we're swept up by the awesome vastness of an ever-expanding vista. This LOVE is the recognition of humanity when a soldier peacefully engages the so-called 'enemy' on a battlefield and when a teenager bravely stands between the bully and the bullied.
So yes, I want to talk about LOVE, because LOVE IS what we're made of. It's the only thing that matters. And yes, I can hear you. "LOVE can't put food on my table! You can't live on LOVE!" and to that I simply say, "Yes. You can." The fact that we don't do it has no bearing on the possibility. It is
completely possible to live on LOVE, because it's the core of our existence. That LOVE - the unconditional, all encompassing, uncompromising LOVE IS available to sustain us on all levels: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
LOVE IS Physical Sustenance
Think about this. When water soaks the earth and the sun caresses newly sprouting seedlings encouraging them to grow into the plants with which we nourish our bodies, we witness a very physical form of LOVE in action. The sun, the water, the seeds and the plants know LOVE IS. They each give of each
other, to each
other and of themselves
freely, to nourish us.
There's enough of this form of LOVE to go around. It's only financial greed that compromises the sharing of what is freely and LOVINGLY provided by Mother Earth.
LOVE IS Mental Sustenance
When you consider LOVE at the mental level, it's necessary to remember that even though most of us always allow it, it's not necessary for our mind to be in charge. If we gave our minds over to our hearts and allowed our decisions to be filtered through LOVE, that LOVE would become constant nourishment for our minds. Can you imagine how very different life would be if every one of us stopped for the spilt second it takes to breath and reflect on what's at the core of every situation before we reacted? Mental illness, stress and anxiety would be a thing of the past. It is possible.
LOVE IS the only Emotion
Most of us have only a basic understanding of emotion. Note I have not pluralized the word, as there is only one. LOVE. What we consider to be any other emotion is a greater of lesser amount of LOVE. Where ecstasy is the most extreme positive form of LOVE, fear is the severe absence of LOVE. Anger too, is always about lack of LOVE, jealousy about convoluted feelings of LOVE and sorrow about the loss of LOVE.
LOVE IS Spirituality
LOVE IS the energy of 'I am'. When you strip away skin, flesh, blood and bone and dig deeper there it is, the pure energy we're made of. You can't see it but everyone has felt it, if even for just a fleeting and forgotten instant. Some call it the Divine essence, the Universal Consciousness, the Oneness, the ALL that is, but when it comes straight down to it, what we're talking about, pure and simple is LOVE with a capital L!
Unique in its essence, LOVE IS the only thing that increases and strengthens by giving it away and WE ARE that unique essence.
I invite you.
I ask you.
I challenge you.
I implore you to liberate your LOVING ESSENCE everywhere you go.
Everyday in every way, through every decision you make, every thought you think, every word you speak and every action you take, allow your self to expand and spread the word the world over that LOVE IS simple, as LOVE simply IS.
