Within me flashed all the memories, thoughts and meditations I had previous to deciding upon this title and was able to briefly relay to her the reason for my choice. However, being someone who finds it hard to say things with just a few words, I have decided to explain it here in more detail.
It is not uncommon for us to refer to our life as a journey. Whether we consider our trip good or bad we are all on one, traveling in what may appear different directions, speeds and experiencing the trip in a variety of ways. I am sure we all came to this earth with a map and an agenda, but like any good adventure, mishaps and surprises awaited us causing us to get off track or we may have lost our directions all together! In those times of frustration, depression and loneliness we may feel as though we are the only ones on a dark and deserted road. In some ways we are. Although there are millions of us in this world at this very moment, only we know how we truly feel, what we think and what choices we will make. Our life is our own personal experience and the journey itself is what we learn from. Within each of us is the Divine and this spirit unites all of us. How we connect with this and use it is all up to us. I believe our purpose is to increase our awareness of this unity and balance while experiencing every single moment with those around us. How we act and react is all up to us. The routes we take, the stops we make the people we travel with all add to our adventure. Like any other vacation, we can decide before we leave home where and what we will do while away. So it was before we came to earth. With the blessing of the Divine, purpose and path in hand and the knowledge of who and when we would meet up with others, we left our spiritual home and here we are. The lessons we are to learn are stored neatly in our subconscious mind waiting for us to recall. Too often, once here, we get caught up in the world around us becoming distracted and we may even get off course for a bit or altogether. However, it is important for us to remember that this is our journey; especially during those times when we feel like we are sitting in the ditch. We put ourselves there and it is never too late to climb right back up and get going again.
That is where taking time to be 'mindful' of our choices, our thoughts and our connection to All That Is comes into action. It is during those moments of taking the time to go within and really encounter the oneness of our spirit to that of our fellow man, nature, the universe and the Divine that we really begin to see the purpose in our lives. It is through this bringing together of mind, body and spirit that we embrace the love and compassion of Spirit. Only then do we accept the inner peace that we truly deserve. It is through our thoughts that we manifest our reality. If our vacation is rotten, then we need to take time to look at our thoughts. Chances are they are rotten too!
By being mindful of how we think we can choose the experiences and people that are drawn to us on our trip. Do we want happiness, success, and enlightenment? Then we must do things that create this in our world. The rainy camping trip will only be a bad experience if we decide it is going to be. Like any journey we may become lost, but if we put ego aside and ask for help we will find our way back to the main road. Sometimes we may need to change our direction but by allowing ourselves the right to do so we will find a smoother route.
Our trip will be more enjoyable when we remember to take care of our emotional and physical well-being. Taking time to view the sights and sounds and being thankful for the opportunity to travel along life's path will bring balance and harmony into our lives. Always being mindful of our purpose to grow in mind, body and spirit will create a deeper meaning of life and desire to increase in knowledge and understanding of self and others. Any trip is more meaningful and enjoyable when spent in the moment, being grateful for the experience, letting go of all past negative memories and allowing ourselves to feel the sense of freedom of time and space.
So why did I choose the name 'Mindful Journey'? To me it represents all of the above and my personal pledge; to go through this journey of life in a mindful manner, realizing that my thoughts create my reality. It is my purpose to heal and teach others with love and compassion as I continue to learn and grow in awareness. This is a task that makes up the journey and I pray that when my time comes to go back home, I have one heck of a story to tell those waiting for me!
