Healing: Misconceptions and Realities

Article Pic

SHERRY ANASHARA: There are so many misconceptions about healing. The general consensus is that healing is found outside of you. This perception starts the search for the perfect place, the perfect person, and the perfect modality to heal you. Sounds great but if you are looking outside of your Self to find the healing for your physical and emotional issues, nine times out of ten it doesn't work.

Why? The question more appropriate to ask is 'Why Not?' The Why Not question is part of the answer. Why does the outside source of healing not work? The outside source cannot work unless you, who are seeking healing, are completely involved and ready to accept the answers of why you are in the state of consciousness which requires healing.

Healing must start inside of your Self. Healing must include addressing the emotional and physical issues from the origination point or at the core of the issue or issues. There can be no blame, judgment or perceptions about the 'Why's' of the problems. The issues must be addressed straightforward. A great question with which to begin is 'why am I having this issue or these issues emotionally and physically to begin with? Where do I start?

You have to start where the problems began. At what age or stage of your life did you take on the issue? You may not know the answers consciously. You can access the answers when you are ready to be clear and fully aware of the causes in which you participated. The problems could have started as young as in your mother's womb. They could have started in emotionally charged family dynamics which you were not equipped nor prepared to deal with as a young child or teenager. The circumstances, upon which your physical and emotional issues begin, no doubt started with one circumstance at a certain age. Then compounding these issues with other repeated circumstances being engrained in your body, chronic behavioural patterns eventually made you sick.

The repetitive cycles of dysfunctional situations, though they may appear different at different times of your life, are really the same patterns when you get to the core of the dysfunctions. Too many look outside of Self for answers. This method is not very empowering. If it was, why are so many people on anti-depressant drugs, medications, in years of talk therapy, with still no clear relief for them self or their body?

Healing must first take place inside by addressing the past, but not to relive or be re-traumatized by the circumstances. You have to address all parties involved non-emotionally. It's necessary to get to all the facts even if you don't like them and look at everyone's role, no matter how bad or sad it is without judgement. For example if you are blaming your parent or parents, you have to realize that as human beings they did not have all the answers then and probably don't to this day. You will never find your answers for healing your Self in them or in anyone else. What you can do however is to see that they did they best they could at the time.

Now is the time as the non-emotional observer to witness the facts without the drama. At the time, those in the circumstances didn't know how powerful words were or how words could be embedded in each other. The old saying "Sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never harm me." is ridiculous. Your physical body can heal from the impact of the sticks and stones, but the pain of the harmful words directed at stays in your tissues. These words are like permanent markers. They stick for a lifetime. That's why talking about the same issues over and over again will only re-traumatize you.

You have to get out of your head and stop analyzing the heck out of the past. Getting to the core and seeing your past from a non-emotional observer standpoint allows you to take a stand for your Self on the emotional and physical issues you are re-experiencing. With too much analyzing you retain the issues, stay stuck in the past.

When you are ready to stick just to the facts, you are then ready to view the circumstances from this powerful non-emotional observers standpoint. This allows you to see that the circumstances were then and only then. Observing gives you the opportunity to look at your role in the situations. You can't change the past but you can change your current situation by not holding on to the past. As you let the dysfunctional attachments to the past dissolve, you can have resolutions. With resolutions, solutions come easier.

Only then can seek out the outside healing methods and modalities which will support you on your journey to being whole and complete within your Self. Whatever methods you choose, you are the significant player in your outcome. You are the expert on your life. There will be no misconceptions. You will be fully engaged. You will have the insight when you become this powerful non-emotional observer.

Whomever you choose to support you, medical, non-medical, alternative expert or practitioner, you will be empowering them to assist and support you. Everyone wins, when you are ready to heal your Self emotionally and physically. Let your reality of healing begin.
