From the Ground Up!

Body-Mind Analysis Series: Overview

Article Pic

JENNIFER ADAMSON: Just as a master tracker can tell what animal has traversed a spot and show the evidence with each mark, depression, scratch, bit of fur and bent twig, we too can see evidence of trauma left on the body. From a very early age we start recording the events of our lives in our bodies. As the mind has no place to store emotions such as these they get pushed down into the body.

"Now we know that the mind and the body are like parallel universes. Anything that happens in the mental universe leaves tracks in the physical one."
Deepak Chopra

Have you ever seen a sapling in the woods that has been trapped under a fallen tree? It does everything it can to grow upright. The same thing happens in the body. These 'issues in the tissues' affect the alignment of the body, like a train wreck, the balance/counterbalance shifts are forever taking place.

The real rub is that at the site of each new shift there can be a new feeling that takes place with the new alignment. For example: People who stand with knees locked (and we'll get into why) frequently suffer from TMJ and feelings of resentment.

In the weeks to come this series of articles explores our bodies from From the Ground Up! We'll focus on all the points of balance in the body and explore the psychosomatic factors at work, the ramifications manifested and looking at ways to rebalance, revitalize, realign and realize new body-mind awareness.

Part 1
The Feet - we'll look at all aspects of how you stand in the world

Part 2
The Ankles - your support from an early age

Part 3
The Calves - standing your ground, or ready to run?

Part 4
The Knees - what brings people to their knees, or locked up in their beliefs?

Part 5
The Hips - are you cocked or fired?

Part 6
The Lower Back - the most typical psychosomatic reason for back pain

Part 7
The Arms - are you disarmed?

Part 8
The Shoulders - the balance scale of the upper body

Part 9
The Upper Back and Neck - how computers effect the heart and throat chakras

Part 10
The Head - your connection to your body

As you join me on this journey through the mind and body, you'll be surprised at how many things you already know on some level. Through conscious awareness we're going to 're-member' them together.

Wil - Month by month I will reveal more about psychosomatic practices. In the mean time, you can do online searches for physiognomy and personology

Andrea - What an amazing experience - and presence of mind you had to put your daughter in some one else's shoes. When writing a report, we simulate the positions that people are in to help explain the psychosomatic factors at play. I will talk more about that in my articles.

Hi Jennifer;
It is really nice to see you here in this forum!

Years ago my young daughter and I were driving through town and she made a snide comment over the physical appearance of a woman standing at the corner. When I asked her to mimic(mirror) the posture and facial expression of the woman and "become" her for a few minutes - she quickly understood...in a few minutes her eyes were full of tears and she was shocked by the sadness and pain that had flooded her young heart, body and mind. She never made an off handed comment again.

There is magic in the work you do...through understanding and appreciation for the journeys of others and ourselves we can really start healing the heart of humanity!

I'm looking forward to reading your upcoming articles!
