A Life Lesson
From just inside the doorway I was watching my outdoor chipmunk friend stuff the peanuts I left into it's ever-expanding cheeks then scurry off. While waiting for it's return, my eyes wandered sideways to an old 'cross-hatch' drawing of mine, at eye level on our inside wall.
"How intricate," I thought.
I got lost in the multitude of teeny-tiny lines per square inch that made up the entire picture and realized I needed another creative outlet of some kind. One with more of a challenge. On noticing my reflection in the glass I thought it might be a good idea to pick up where I left off with the drawing, but to do it ON the glass instead of on the paper.
Now there's a challenge - you can't erase glass.
Once it's there, it's there forever!
Well, one thing led to another and before long I found myself doing a form of 'deep-etching' on even thicker and thicker glass. I replaced my ink with a diamond and my challenge was soon replaced by an even bigger one, which I hadn't counted on. Sometimes, after a week or two of hand etching one single piece I will hear a sharp - clap - and the 1/2" glass composition has cracked into several individual pieces - it's gone forever!
Oh what a feeling!
Start again.
It's taught me a lot. Think about it.
- Be WEll.
